where can i get a good potentiometer?

ok so i'm really new to DIY stuff. i bought some yamaha Pm1000 mic pres and i'm trying to rack them my self. or at least i'm trying to see how far i can get before i really need to send it to someone to help me. so i was taking apart the chasis and i was able to get all of the pots off except one. and i could not take it off. i tried everything. so i just clipped the wires to it in hopes that i could buy one and replace it. SO the big question is where can i get one and what do i need to know when buying one. the one i need to replace had contacts on the top and bottom of it, while there were other pots that didn't have contacts on the top and bottom of it. please let me know...as i'd like to keep the momentum going.

So I take it you're replacing the 50M EQ pots. Just out of curiosity, why are you changing them, do they not work? Mine ALL still work great, without any scratchy crap.

well i couldn't actually get the darn thing off. i get the high and the low but i couldn't get the mid EQ pot off so i had to clip them.
also so should i replace all the eq pots with better ones? please let me know. i'm kind of confused.

ok so i now know that i need a 50k pot. how do i know which 50k pot i need.
I.E. Linear vs. Logarithmic(Audio)?

also one i find out which one i need can someone direct me to an online store where i can buy this?
