I been looking for a 6072 valve 5 star for a 251 build. I understand the military grades are 'The one's' ,to have .... pre nasa.

I have seen GE 6072....told 1956-1966  are best?  (Seen a 1953 for sale )
But what does all this mean...which specific type, do I look out for NOS ,NIB,NOS JAN ?.

The GE seem to come in Black or grey backplate's.  The RCA in Grey.....though seen a RCA platinum !
None of them actually say 5 star. Can anyone enlighten me, what all this means?

Which type to buy?  or any recommended sources ,for old valves ?

buy a tube tested for low noise and microphonics , GE, JAN, RCA are all good makers, production year doesn't matter, tubes are not wine

Congratulations! Two different topics for the same tube! Try the same in few others categories :D

The other thread has loads of good info.  BTW, NIB (new in box) NOS ( new old stock) pretty much the same,  now you are down to one choice  (JAN )  from your title which is a good tube even if it's not the very, very, very best!

I will look out for a 5 star GE ,yep 1in 3, i've read is good.
Any Date...its not a bottle of wine,....Great...was only what a read in a thread ,in a recording forum

Excuse my ignorance on NOS and NIB....not in box...  Lol...  thought it was different spec...
Thanx All, for putting me straight.
