The "magic" of star-quad is due to the fact that two parallel wires, connected together at both ends to become a single conductor, have an effective magnetic center line exactly halfway between them. Now arrange another such pair at 90-degrees and the two pairs have coincident centerlines. It's as if the two conductors are in the same place - and will have exactly the same magnetic sensitivity!

Coaxial cables do the same thing slightly differently. The physical centerline of both inner and outer conductors are in exactly the same place. Subject to the precision of their construction, both coaxial and star-quad have ZERO pickup of external magnetic fields.
