Hi, I´m looking to purchase a signal generator, I have three on my mind and I need some opinions about them, and maybe some alternatives...
ok here I go
- Promax gf232
- Meterman fg2ce: http://www.amidata.es/cgi-bin/bv/browse/Module.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0697668617.1144309126@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccccaddhgmflljecefeceefdffhdgmn.0&cacheID=esie&3321761941=3321761941&stockNo=4207722&prmstocknum=4207722&prodoid=4716960
- Isotech gfg8216: http://www.amidata.es/cgi-bin/bv/browse/Module.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0697668617.1144309126@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccccaddhgmflljecefeceefdffhdgmn.0&cacheID=esie&3321761941=3321761941&stockNo=3760200&prmstocknum=3760200&prodoid=2331456
Thanks for all

Note - you cannot link to a RS web page
That is because they use Broadvision as a front end and that uses a user defined session
Your session belongs to you, will have expired by now - and we can;t see it

You are better putting the stock numbers in (or using Farnell)

UK03878 (Having once worked as a consultant at RS - not on the broadvision side)

I downloaded the datasheet from the isotech 8216 and the wavetek/meterman fg3c and I´m so surprised because they are completely the same. The same specifications, the same hardware, they are instead the same machine with another branded name, the isotech costs about 300$ and the meterman 600$. Do anyone knows the reason???
Here are the links with the datasheet and images to compare them. I´m so atonished

I´m getting more and more atonished, the same machine is branded in some countries like Instek and another countries Isotech. What is the really truth behind electronics manufacturers????

Lots of the sig gens are the same with different labels. Cheap ones use an ICL8038 chip, which is okay if you just need a signal, but if you want to take measurements, THD never drops below 1%, generally.

I believe the FG3C is not based on the ICL8038, please correct me if I am wrong. That would explain the higher price.

HTH!

I don´t know which ic arquitecture mounting the fg3c but I was speaking with instek and they say that instek manufacture some equipments for another brands. In spite of I also ask them for isotech signal generators that are exactly the same as instek and they didn´t hear anytime about this another brand.
I´m a bit confused, so I´m looking for hameg modulars.
My hameg oscilloscopes is really amazing, once a time I was trying to isolate a circuit from the 220v of my home, it occurs an awful derivation that drives the 220 v into the hameg. The fuses on my home just break down, when I recover all the system I was really sad thinking about my hameg could be death, after switch on the hameg was totally good, I get my hameg into the calibration and test shop and they said to me that the hameg was terrrible rough, it was perfectly and it is more posible that I broke my fridge on my derivation than the hameg
Since 4 years ago I´m using hameg equipment I only could say that this fucking german equipment is rude and rough as lorenzo lamas in renegate
So I think that I will spend much money and get a hameg signal generator
