I've been wanting to build a vari mu compressor for  a long time!
How much will it cost me to build a stereo vari mu compressor? and which build should i go for?

Difficult to say. Why not trow "vari mu" into the search function? IIRC, there are at least four (five?) different vari mu designs in this forum, and at least two more being discussed.

For some designs you will even find PCBs offered for sale either here (White market / Black market) or elsewhere -- with other designs you'd have to build from scratch.

Concerning cost: well, leaving aside the minimum of required components and what those cost (you will find some rough "total cost" posts in this forum), it often comes down to what additional/premium components you decide to use in your build.

Why not look at schematics and BOMs to do rough calculations. Start with the most cost-intensive parts:
- case & face plate
- audio transformers
- power transformer(s)
- tubes
- big and/or exotic caps
- special pots/rotaries
Don't forget to add all shipping costs to your list! Then add a couple (or two couples) of extra bucks for generic small caps and resistors.

Another, also important consideration is how much time and effort it takes to end up with a calibrated/matched unit for stereo use.

Thank you for the reply.  I was thinking maby someone could come give me a tip about wich one sounds better, is easier to build and so on.
I've seen several, the drip 670 and 175b but they seem to expensive to build for now.
Ac prr 176 and the pm670.
I think the pm670 would be a nice build, but no one makes the pcbs anymore. Is it possible to get the pcb layout and schematics for it somewhere  ?

I'd recommend going for the Sta Level...with variable attack/release. Don't worry about the price as much...just start buying parts and putting it together. Drips unit looks pretty good...if your not that used to electronics yet.

The read some about the sta level , and it seems like  a very nice compressor. The pm670 and the prr 176 are stereo so they are more interessting at the moment.
Drip pcbs seem very vell made! A bit expensive but maby not so expensive compared to a the full build? 100$ here and 100$ ads up fast :p

The sta level looks easy to build and sounds very good from the clips heard.  I'm falling towards building tone or two of those instead . If it's posible to link them i will buy two for sure :D
