Hello,
I am sure I have seen such project somewhere but I can't find it anymore.
I would like to build a 4 channel mic preamp that has this specification :
- portable ! (with battery)
- 48v phantom power
- highest gain possible
- low noise class A spec

This would be suitable for audio video capture and would compete with mic pre like Sound Device.
Thanks
alex

You might want to check out theExpat Audio Eden Preamps...

It's ideal for portable pre's, and will run off a pair of pp3's comfortably.

Phantom is a bit more of a challenge, but nothing a stack of batteries can't solve.

The Expat Edens are excellent! Highly recommended, very clean and quiet, and very easy to put together.

I have done phantom from 5 x 9v = 45v..... Close enough!

This is actually what I initialy though. Looks compact enough. But how much power do they need ?
Do you know of any good quality compact limiter that could be coupled to these ?
My plan is to make a four channel portable device with limiter, A/D converter and direct to disk record.

I have the calculations on a PC thats in storage (moving house) however, if memory serves, current consumption is low. Your essentially looking after 7 opamps per channel. (Granted high performance)

If you despised the Voltage rail led's you can drop 20mA per channel immediately!

For your reference, devices used are ina163, drv135 and opa134.

I can get current consumption for each soon.

Cheers
