Capacitor Charging Circuit



Description
Circuit Components:
A 9V battery.
A 200μF electrolytic capacitor
A 330Ω resistor
A 100Ω resistor.
A red LED.
A yellow LED.
A SPST switch

Circuit Description:
Assemble a charging circuit with a 9V battery, a 200μF capacitor, a 330Ω resistor for charging, a 100Ω resistor for LED current limiting, two LEDs (red and yellow) in series, and an SPST switch. Connect the battery's positive terminal to the 330Ω resistor, and then to the capacitor. Attach the capacitor's other terminal to the negative terminal. Link the LEDs in series with the 100Ω resistor between them. The switch connects the LED series to the negative terminal. When the switch closes, the capacitor charges and the LEDs light up.

This circuit uses a switch to control the charging and discharging of the capacitor, with the brightness of the two LEDs indicating the state of charge of the capacitor.

RS (Register Select) pin connected to Arduino Digital Pin 12.

E (Enable) pin connected to Arduino Digital Pin 11.

D0-D3 (Data pins) connected to Arduino Digital Pins 5-2 respectively.

D4-D7 (Data pins) connected to Arduino Digital Pins 10-7 respectively.

LED:

Positive leg connected to Arduino Digital Pin 13.

The negative leg is connected through the 220Ω resistor to the Arduino's Ground (GND).

Code Functionality:

Initializes LCD, and sets LED as output. Clears LCD, displays "Counting to 100...". Counts 1-100, displays count, blinks LED for multiples of three, counts blinks. After counting, shows "LED Blinks: X" and halts.

After counting, shows "LED Blinks: X" and halts: Once the count reaches 100, the program stops incrementing and displays the total number of LED blinks on the LCD. The program then halts, and the final message remains on the display.

Description
To implement this project, we need:
An LED display (a common cathode LED display is used here);
A switch to start timing.

Connect the a-f pins of the LED display to the D2-D8 pins of the UNO, and connect the common cathode of the LED display to the GND of the UNO. Detect the state of the switch through pin A0 of the UNO.
When the switch is pressed, pin A0 of the UNO goes high, and the LED display will start timing from 0. When the count reaches 9, it will reset back to 0.
