Weirdness in a waveform

There is a panning matrix in the desk doing 7.1 that is where there is divergence control.
Can you route to each speaker directly with any source? Is there a difference between routing a single source directly to the left and right speaker and using the divergence control to do the same thing?

Yes I can and I did. There is no difference between divergence going to left and right vs taking the mono signal and hard panning it to left or right vs center speaker.
 
All the console outputs seem to be the same. What about swapping the center speaker cable and the left (or right) and routing to produce phantom center? Same thing?
 
If there is a big enough acoustics problem to cause this than moving around the room should illustrate where the peaks and nulls are. If moving around the room doesn’t show lumpy frequency response something isn’t adding up.
