I want to throw out a thought I had over the weekend.

No more PM's!

Why?

1) people have enough things to do in life without opening up three million different mailboxes. After I do spam control at my regular email, I don't Even want to check my PM's!

2) We had a lot of lame "Hey So and So, Check your PM's!" threads at the old plsace.;

and now the MAIN reason:

3) Security! I gave out my address many times thru a PM to people who needed it. Bad Idea!
Guess who is probably hunkered down under the covers with a flashlight and reading all our private stuff!
Scary to say the least.

So I recomend that you all use your regular boxes for everything.

What think?

I'd be for it...I get an email either way...I'd prefer just to communicate via email anyway...

If they Did get us into this mess, all the more reason...

Let me rephrase the thread:

Keep PM's as an option, but I highly recomend you use regular email for anything sensitive, hows that?

And I urge people to open up a Yahoo account or Hotmail, if they have issues with using their default mailbox.

That way, I can communicatew with you on a more secure basis.

PM's are a holy grail
leave them.[/quote]

Everlasting life from PM's...I'm IN!!!

I think, if you look back into the old Group DIY Up-Dates,
you will see I suggested that people use PM's to get connected.
Once communications are open, then move things to direct email.

why does no-one listen to me ???

If you just limit PM space to a few hundred characters each, people would be forced to use them that way but would not loose their privacy.

No Tim that is byte censorship.

Yes I agree we use PM's too much.
I like Email better but everyone does not have email listed!
List your emails. In human readable form if you are paranoid.

OK, great.
Looks like we have it sussed out.
Use PM's at your own disgression.

It's just that I had 29 of them at the old place, and guess what!
They ain't private anymore!
And I lost a lot of info!
Multiply that by 300 members, and thats a lotta info.
