Quick and dumb question about cables

Is it okay to use balanced audio cable (I usually buy Belden in bulk) to make unbalanced cables, perhaps by using only one pair or buy twisting both pairs together? I'm about to put in another order for some cable and ends, and I'm wondering if I really need to buy two different kinds of cable. Thank you!

I don't see why not; you can simply cut the drain/shield wire and use the two insulated conductors for hot and ground; we do this all the time at work

Thank you for the help! And I just noticed that it's Canare I buy, not Belden, but hey, whatever works, right?

I take black and throw it on the ground.
Red goes to high.
either or and call it a day.

Thanks, guys. Order is in. I was just wondering if I should throw some unbalanced cable in there, but I know now I didn't.

One caveat: don't do that for guitar cables, because the linear capacitance (pF/m) will be too high.
