noise on gain control JLM baby animal neutral (fixed)

I have racked a pair on BAN pre's and am get a lot of noise when using the gain control. After reviewing my work all looks right so is this normal our have I messed it up. I believe DC on a pot like this can cause this scratching noise is there anything that can be done to mitigate the affect?

Well, there's a balance trimmer which seems to be there exactly to set DC across the pot to 0 V. Did you adjust this?

Ha yes but for the same voltage on either side of the pot not 0 across. Its so easy when you follow instructions.

How is your BAN sounding and what is your primary usage?
I have done couple of BA and now I have ordered two gar2520 kits and I wonder should build BAN instead of BA.

Just got them racked and need some time to comment on the sound. Hope use them with ribbons.

The man reason I chose this pre was to fill up space in a rack with 2 Ward Beck M402B's as they use the same power supply
