Hello all,

I need to determine what kind of photo sensor MCI used for the tape sensor.  Unfortunately, the manual gives no information about the part.

It has  a Texas Instruments logo on top and physically it looks similar to their old TIL143 and TIL144 parts.  Does anyone have any good information about what MCI used?

Thanks - but never  mind.  The owner found the part number printed in tiny letters on the side of the sensor.  Grey letters on a black background.  Thanks TI!

I don't think phototransistors really different that much. You could probably swap in just about any has the right form-factor. It's probably $5 on Mouser. Just make sure you put it in the right way around. Study the datasheet to make sure the dimensions are correct and that it's actually a phototransistor and not something else like a photodiode.
