Hello, I am finishing my stereo 1176 project and want to make sure the power transformer I got would be adequate to power the two boards.

Its a Hammond Power Transformers 48VA 24V / 12V w/6" Leads.

http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?&ha...*&Dk=1&Ns=MfgrPartNumber||SField&N=0&crc=true

Also wondering what the differnce is between the:

GLOBAL USE - TERMINAL CONNECTION L.V. RECTIFIER USE TRANSFORMERS -- and the -- FILAMENT AND L. V. RECTIFIER USE TRANSFORMERS

I got the second one because it had the 6" leads.

Thanks,

Nick

Ok cool, couple more questions:

1. Do you have to use a toroidal transformer?

2. Could I use 2- 24/12V toroidal transformers wired parallel instead of 1 48/24V?

Thanks,

Nick

Nope.

Paralleling gives you more current capability, not more volts. You need 24V-0-24V, you're thinking of a 12V-0-12V I think.

Swing by and let's see what you're looking at.
