Does anyone know what kind of connector a mark I late 1975 rhodes takes? I bought on and it appears to be installed by a previous owner. It has 5 pins but only 4 are wired. I have no cable so I need to know what connector it is called to make a cable. Also any info on the color code of the preamp is appreciated. The connector is wired to a red, black, blue and light gray wires.

Im assuming L-,L+,R- and R+,but which?

I guess it is a 5 pin xlr cable needed but these are all marketed as lighting cables on ebay. I dont know if I woud have to rewire it or if the cable quality would effect the sound. But if anyone knows anything that could help I would appreciate it. I have the preamp rebuild kit but I would really like to see if I have a wiring issue first and figure out what cable I need to properly get this thing going first before i start gettting into changing components.

I used a 5pin DIN connector when I built an power amp for the rare satellite models (They looked like Stage models but they had a suitcase pre, you could by satellite speaker cabs for them) you should be able to find wiring info in the documents at the Fender Rhodes Super Site http://www.fenderrhodes.com/service/manual.php Good luck!

Looks like the XLR was likely wired in place of the original bayonet DIN connector mounted alongside the output jacks on the rear panel.

Referring to the attached schem, you have:

1) GND
2) DC -ve
3) O/P 2
4) O/P 1
5) DC +ve

Of course, you only have 4 wires there, so you will have to trace them to be sure of where they come from ...

No.

Ground
Left
Right
Power

Wuz originally a DIN much like MIDI cables.

No real shielding is needed. The audio lines are amplified. Long before external crap gets onto the audio lines, it will get into the 60 naked pickups under the plastic lid.

Unless you have a herd of Rhodes, all you need is 3 hots and a ground which fits your head and your amp. Use whatever is handy. I would seriously consider EtherNet cable. Not super tough but SUPER available cheap, keep some spares.
