Hi,
I have just joined the forum and am completely new to diy audio projects. My electronic experience to date is wiring and soldering for my studio, PC assembly and (not really electronic) cleaning pots/ faders etc on my soundcraft 6000 desk... However, I am entusiastic and willing to learn and i love a challenge. So, taking into consideration my limited knowlodge, what would you suggest as a first project, preferably a pre amp...but anything will suffice just to get me on the road to diying...

I look forward to your advise
regards

probably one of the simplest preamp projects in terms of documentation and parts availability is the API 312. There's a plethora of opamp offerings here, there are multiple boards for sale and lots of transformer options. If it's tube gear you're looking for, I suggest the G9 or the mila2.

I always suggest building a guitar pedal first. Cost is usually less than $50, and a smaller circuit will be easier to troubleshoot for a novice. Small Bear Electronics offers full kits which is a great way to start.
If you want to jump into studio gear right away, maybe something tube... To this day, building the Drip LA-2 has been the easiest project for me.

I`m building my first projects.

I started looking for the SSL9k pre, it looks pretty simple.

While I was gathering info about it i ordered a guitar fuzz from musikding (less than 20€) just for develope soldering skills (but there`s not much to solder in it) and now, while wait for the 9k PCB I`ve build a simple Headphone amp and I`m thinking in a DI right now.

Try to start with simple projects like that, then build a pre or something like that, I`m now much sure about build anything.

And read this forum all the time you can.
