Hello, This is my first Post here!!!  :)

I need your Help, In my studio I have a 24 channel Cnsole how is connected direct to 24 AD converter, recently I purchase  a 24 Tape recorder and I want to combine both to my outputs.

Can you sagest me any way to have the opportunity to switch A/B all the channels simultaneously  between the Converters and the tape machine with one button? what do you sagest active or passive design?

Kind Regards
Nikos

Back in the late '70s i used electronic (CMOS) switching inside a console to switch between tracking and mixdown..

This is not trivial, while I was able to do it cleanly by putting cheap transfer gates switches inside the feedback loop,. This is not a simple design to start with.

maybe consider relays as easier to implement..

keep it simple. You don't need active electronics, because there is no interfacing problems. Use relays, it's easy to build, almost foolproof, and inexpensive (a dual changeover relay costs about $2).

+1 for relays. you can put it together on a perf board, just remember to use protection diodes or uln200x chip.

Reed relays are smaller quieter, and pull less current - which may be a factor if you are switching all of them simultaneously. They can cost a bit more though.

As nice as a single button push would be ... do you really need instant switching access?

I would think it would be a ton easier to just have some DL or Elco connectors that allow you to move all 24 tracks with one connector change.

My $0.02
