Matador said:I've had a lot of success with Nixie PSU's, especially the SMPS designs. Mostly because the ripple frequency is (typically) quite high: in one design I adapted, the minimum ripple frequency has approximately 53kHz, and the maximum was near 250kHz. This means RC and LC filtering is substantially more effective (like 70-80dB) as compared to filtering typical 100Hz/120Hz ripple.

If noise and ripple is an issue, easy enough to follow it up with a linear regulator.
