Can you let me know what you think about the Eisen stuff and what Op Amp/Trannys you used. What are you using for your power supply?
Eisen Audio Pre is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. High quality build, hundreds of options.

For op amp, I just put my new Fabio 2.5.2.0 in there a few days ago. Before that I was switching between my JH990 and my IC to DOA converters. I built a few small boards that fit the 2.5.2.0 footprint, and let me put any IC op amp in there I like. I really like the AD797. It doesn't have the high frequency hype like the OP604, and I like the midrange better than the 5534. It sounds surprisingly similar to the JH990.

I have an original API 5303 output TX, and a Cinemag CM-75101APC input TX. The Cinemag CMOQ-2S sound very similar to the 5303.

PS was provided from the Brent Averil rack I'm using. I opened up the PS and saw it was just PowerOne L frame, with added 48V circuitry.

I missed the twin servo , but that sounds like something no one had done
yet . Did you make pcbs ?

got the link handy ?

regards Greg

Rob,

I was looking at your website....

And I'm guessing that powersupply PCB you have will work fine for the Eisen Power Supply, right?

Here's the link

I had a prototype fabricated, but thats it so far.

Yeah, the powersupply will work for the eisen, but what are you going to do for the case? I'd shell out the $425 on a Brent Averill or API lunch-box that come with a power supply.
I'll just make one out of wood. 425 dolars is just ridiculous!
You'll want to keep it away from the rest of your gear, and far away from the power supply. Some places have more RF than others, but it could work....

We have a whole bunch of Neve modules in wood boxes here with no problems.

does anyone have a complete spec for the form factor? (i.e. connector pinout, dimentions (in 3d), Where the PCB sits in relation to the card itself etc?

Paia Frac-Rack blank panels have the same dimensions as the API format and are much cheaper than the API blank panels:

Hi Blunderfonics

I use PCBWAY.com alubase PCB's for any front panel needs

--Use something like Eagle to design size/shape; whatever you want.

--upload old style Gerber (PCBWAY.com doesn't like X2 format last time I checked)

--The nice folks at PCBWAY will probably ask you where are your traces, where are your soldermasks, were you stoned when you sent us this gerber etc. etc. a few times. They generally don't understand I just want metal work from them at first.  So I usually have to email them a couple of times saying it's for a front panel; I usually include a google translation English to Mandarin "this is for a front panel only" which seems to help.

--After maybe 3 weeks you get back really good aluminum quality panels.  I have ordered a whole lot and they've never made a mistake or shipped me something of poor quality.

--For Frakrac (which i read is about the same as API?) it's going to be about $4-$7USD per 1.5" x 5.25" panel with shipping to US.  Minimum quantity per panel design is 5.

--Extra credit: From other forums I've read, it appears they will silkscreen these as well at no additional cost (!!) although I've never tried that.

Have fun!

Link appears broken. This one works:

My 2 cents: I contacted a local HVAC contractor / duct metal shop and asked if they had any aluminum sheets laying around. They did.  Then I kindly asked if they could cut me some rectangles out of it in the 500 slot dimension.  $35 for the aluminum sheet, and $100 for the cuts left me with approx 75 blank panels.  Wise to ask for cuts a bit larger than 1.5 since the sheer smooshes the ends a bit and since it's done by hand, is not as tight a tolerance as plasma. You can then belt sand them to 1.48" or whatever works for you dependent on topcoat.
