50 years old - hard to believe.

Classical pianist who makes living teaching chamber music/accompanying at University. I do arranging, notation, sequencing, and recording on the side.

I've built a few things and done a few mods, but can't design a circuit. I find this site to be inspirational.

55 last August. Been married for 29 of 'em to the same gal. Yeah I worked scada too 4 years on the TAPS and several years at a power company. I worked as a calibration tech for the TAPS towards the end of that gig then they ran the unions off the slope. It is interesting to see so many other scada guys here but I suppose that's where the money and the future is.

I started out as an assembly/test tech for a large hydro power controller company back in '72. Was a luthier/amp/keyboard tech for several years in Fairbanks ( that was a cool gig) , did the TAPS and power company gigs, then became a rather low paid electronics tech for the state gov.
( yeah I did scada, two way, copiers (yuk!), telephone systems, and whatnot for those guys )

I've building amps, guitars, PA's, and other assorted stuff since I was a kid but really got pretty good at it in the seventies. I've sold some but it's mainly been for kicks. I just built a couple of LA2 enhanced clones and had a gas doing it.

I've got three new guitars under contstruction right now, a 27" bari, another 12, and a short scale bass. Just bought me a new keyboard (Nord Electro 2) that I can't wait to get home and try. Did I mention I play casuals with a couple of other guys ?

Stuck on the road mates  Lord help me :green:
It's really strange for me not to be the youngest guy in the room, still getting used to that. I'm 26 now.

My day job has been database specialist for eight years, been back in school for 2.5 years, and recently became partner in a recording studio. We built the studio primarily with our own hands, and I sure hope not to do that again for a long time, not until I own the property and can rest assured to be there for many years to come. Here's a pic (taken prior to any DIY gear being installed):

That's my mentor, Blue Hawaii, at the desk. :green:
That desk looks inviting. : )

A balanced range of ages. I got into audio when I was 20, but didn't appreciate it like I appreciated a social life in Europe. Wish i had, I could have honed the skills brought to use in 2005/6 in audio productions of my own. At least the trained professional in electronics troubleshooting, soldering, and scope skills stuck in my skull, but no mathematical theory (and I suck at analog, transistors still make me confused, but so does String Theory).

Young men, rejoice in your youth.... but perhaps not everyday! haha we have to let some brain cells regenerate. : )

Older men, hats off to you and may you stick by your guns (or meters, scopes). I dread the day when the masters of the 990 op amps spin offs retire, best to you sirs!

Those who offer useful advice, cheers to you all.

Best,
Jay
22 but still trying to figure out exactly what to do with my life!

I'm a bebop vibraphonist & drummer.
Plenty of time to learn Trane's solo on Giant Steps...and a lot more!

I'll be 40 on 4-20, and a week later I'll be drumming on tour with 4 dudes in their 20s in a hardcore band. But we play for beer. My day job is IFE tech (In flight entertainment) Audio/video systems. And I have been repairing/ designing/ building tube amps for 15 years. I fix amps for beer! :sam:

im 27. it specialist & networks specialist.

don't feel like i know anything "special", forgot most of the network stuff.

im working on my thesis right now titled "how do I know if my virtual pc is stolen?". yeah, it's partially a trick question, but just a little.

answer that if you know the answer. i have a hunch.

I'm 28.
I graduated economics (finace) but I wasn't that impressed, so I returned to my childhood love - math and electronics. Currently finishing the electrical engineering uni.
