I'm 45 going on 25 !!
Have been playing/engineering/programming since I was about 15 !
Tour quite a lot and run a small studio, have done bands/TV/Film work and
a bit of mastering too ! ( it sounded good but don't ask me why :) )

Electronics hobby stopped after school and restarted about four years ago.
I get results but clearly don't have a "clue" what I'm doing !! :green:

Marty.

It's really strange for me not to be the youngest guy in the room, still getting used to that. I'm 26 now.

My day job has been database specialist for eight years, been back in school for 2.5 years, and recently became partner in a recording studio. We built the studio primarily with our own hands, and I sure hope not to do that again for a long time, not until I own the property and can rest assured to be there for many years to come. Here's a pic (taken prior to any DIY gear being installed):

That's my mentor, Blue Hawaii, at the desk. :green:

I like how this thread morphed into including a brief bio. it is uncanny how many of you are involved with industrial controls.

Im 32. MSME with a focus on machine tool design. worked 3 years for AMS-Neve as a field service tech. spent a couple of years doing a small studio in NYC, and working as a freelance tech. gravitated towards mastering and did only that for about 2 years. for the past 1 yr have been working as an EE in RF/fiber optics (mostly military). working way too many hours. my audio/diy has taken a big hit. still doing the mastering on the weekends. I am always tired.

Heinz 57 here; I'm adjunct faculty in a university's recording program, free-lance writer, also teach a little guitar on the side.

I enjoyed being 33 and 45, and look forward enthusiastically to being 78.

Peace,
Paul

[quote author="rascalseven"]Just curious about the ages of the folks who frequent these forums.

I am 39. Will be 40 in July.

Others??

39... going on 26 worked a pro audio tech beginning in 1988/89... didn't appreciate it back then (calibrating 24 track recorders that had so many circuit boards). so gave it up until 2000 or so. Then found this wonderful community in 2005 which made my electronics and audio background blossom thanks to everyone here.

I've just turned 54, but I seem to act more like three 18 year olds at times.

I run a small electronics company that builds and services control systems. I still doctor valve amps for the locals.

I returned to this type of interest recently after a long time away. Currently growing a big crop of analogue synths and enough recording gear to set up a specialist studio, (I hope).

Picture just to show I have test gear almost as old as me, (and finding out that a few of my supposed NOS valves aren't!). I though I had enough ECC82's for a G9 and some spares. I have enough for a G9, though matched pairs are not going to happen!

Uh-Oh: 8 Meg heater - cathode, Hot. This one might do in an emergency for a power amp phase splitter, but not in a front end.

I could help you with a XLR female - but no Neutrik

I turned 44 in January. My girlfriend is 33 but is much more mature.... So we kinda balance out. I pay her for helping in my small studio. We mostly do audio for radio, instructional videos, and cooking shows, etc. etc.

But also record local bands sometimes. Also tracked some stuff for 2 famous people in 2007. Just vocals and guitar. But was very exciting. Usually is just the run of the mill stuff round here. And we just float by financially. Sometimes I do get to splurge on some DIY tho. And that makes it worth it.

I'm 28.

Professionally, I've been working as a post-production audio engineer for 4 years. Though I've been a recordist for a little less than a decade. Been associating with these hoodlums since the days of TT.
