There are a lot of microphones that share this scheme, so the topic is debated in many threads in the group. Everyone makes their own decisions.
But, it is advisable to analyze other microphones in dedicated threads, this one addresses the Perception series.

Has anyone tried the newer p420 or 220 as a pair on overheads or stereo drum rooms? Wonder how well they are matched sonically for a stereo pair since you cant buy them matched, i want to get a second p420 for those uses.

It makes no sense to feed the OCD.
The differences are within the allowed tolerances.
Even Neumann admits +/-2%.

There are slight differences between my two P420s, in FR and output level. They are the result of the sum of the tolerances of all the components.
But I would use them as a pair. There is even a mixing technique used where some stereo sources are panned extremely L and R are equalized differently to create more of a sense of sound dimension.
