Very interesting. I had a GAP54 years ago and didn´t like it very much. Changing the transformers and messing with the PSU made it a lot better. But compared to the VintageDesign CL1 I'm using in my day job it still wasn´t there. I then sold it. Maybe I'm paranoid, but maybe the CL1 is the best compressor on this planet. I´m a fanboy, I have to admit.

Very interesting, thank you. Do you have any idea what happened with regards to gain structure / set gain trimpot configuration in the CP540V2 as described in my post #30 above?

The C1/CL1/CL1mk2 was a compressor based on both the 2254 and 33609, the best from both worlds plus some updated features. Gain make-up was based on the 2254. The bus version VDC was based on the same circuit minus the limiter section plus a blend function.
