This is Joe Walsh's Alice . It was first owned by Humble Pie ( Peter Frampton's ) band back in the 60's and if boards can talk of the gigs they did , this one would have a lot to say. I have her powered up but would like the schematics or any info on her if anyone has any info ?  I am starting to convert her from a live board to a 24 input DAW console. I have heard a lot about her history and have had many offers to sell her . I don't want her in the House of Blues or in the Rock N Roll hall of fame. I want to use her for what she was meant to do ( make great music ) . Any info would be helpful.    D

Ted Fletcher was the guy who ran Alice (I think).. I also believe Steve Dove did some design work with them. They were based in GB.

I think those guys are still alive but perhaps not lurking here.

Ted Fletcher has a forum on his company website.  I don't think he lurks there every day, but you never know.

You could also try our member, Bo Hanson, who I believe was a service agent for Alice.  He very kindly helped me with schematics for my own Alice desk (nothing like the beauty you have) and I am eternally grateful for his generous assistance.

That desk of yours has an old stencil on it. try some citrus cleaner to gently remove it  ;)

Thank you for your help. I searched the members list for Bo Hanson but no one was found with that name ?

I will try Mr. Fletcher also & thank you for your help .

Thanks for the advice on the citrus cleaner . I guess I am going to try and keep her as she is. The bands that have left the scars of battle on her good or bad are just a part of what make her what she is . An old battle ax.

The guy's name is bo hansen that's why you didn't find him. He also has a website of his own.
And I think the "old stencil" remark was a joke. ;D

I think the name Alice was sold to another company in the 80's (if we are talking about the same Alice). Quite unlikely that the new owner knows anything about the old products but you could try:

Yea I know it was a joke but I figure being polite is the best way.  I did get in touch with the New Alice company and they were nice but didn't have any lit. Thanks tho. I appreciate the help .  I will also look up Bo .I will send Ted a note,  I got onto the site I will post what happens  Thanks  all D

I didn't notice that there is a history section on the "new" Alice website http://www.alice.co.uk/history.shtml which confirms that the name was sold in 1987.

A funny detail from the website: "Currently all Alice equipment is patented and holds CE certification."

Deyo,

I have lot of tech documention for older Alice products, but this "DAW" console I have not any documetion on, I think this was the last product they done before they broke up in the end of 1980´s ?

Try to contact Ted Fletcher, he was the main constructor/desigener for Alice products.

Some add information:
Yes, I was the Swedish dealer for Alice Stancoil Ltd. under the 1980´s.
The company was own among others by Ted Fletcher and John Andrews, and Steve Dowe was a designer consultant for them.

They make a lot of products for radio stations and broadcast applications, but also some consoles fore 4 and 8 tracks semi-pro studios.

Here is asome products they manufacture around the years

Consoles: ACM, ABCM, STM, 2000, 12/16-48, 828.
Telephone Balancing units TBU-2/3, Probe.
And lot of other outboard broadcast gear.

Bo,
Thanks for the info. I think that the board was started to be built from 1969. It has a date stamped on it saying 1970 ? Might be someone else that stamped it on ?  Thanks again for the help & I hope I can track some schematics down.  Blessings  DEYO

Deyo,

Sorry, I think I remember wrong, It was not the "DAW" console that was the last made series, it was the "Silk" console.

The oldest console (around 1970´s) I can find in my paper are the "AD" and "AM" series, but any "DAW" console can I not find from this time.

Hi Bo-
I think something is getting lost in translation.  The original poster wants to use the console as the front end for a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation)- DAW is not the model name of the console.  Hope that helps...

Thanks ledogboy,

I don´t read the topic careful from beginning, so now I understand way I not recognize the Alice "DAW" console.

Sorry for that.

Deyo,

I think I get the picture now, the  "Joe Walsh's Pro Live Console", that you can find here:  http://98.130.103.79/rc/picdisplay.asp?itemkey=940

I think it was only build in very few copy, to some of the 1970´s UK pop stars ??

What I can see from the outside, this console is very unlike all other Alice consoles I have work with.

Talk to Ted Fletcher, (tfpro.com) I think he is the only that maybe can have some tech documentions on this console.

Deyo,

I remember I have seen this console type before, and I find the link:

Bo ,
Yes that is the console , Thanks for the pictures and the links. It has the same strips as the recording console. The Joe Walsh is in great condition . I have powered all the strips up but still have a few things wrong with the center block of the console. Hopefully I can get a schematic and get to work on her. I must ask Ted if he has any documentation on it. Does anyone here know him well ?  Talk soon & thanks again.  DEYO

Just sent Ted a letter let's see if he can remember anything about her . maybe with a bit of luck he will have some documentation on her.  DEYO

Ted Fletcher got back to me pretty fast. Told me what the voltages are but has no documentation. Still looking for some schematics. Alice Trackplan mixer is what the board is called .    Thanks  D
