Hi guys
Hope you're all getting plenty of mince pies!
I might be able to get hold of a GL3300 that's no longer needed at work and wondered what people thought of them please? It'd be for my project studio (currently using a Mackie SR). Obviously it's not the perfect desk but it is fairly compact and space is at an absolute premium.
The one here is configured as 16 mono and 16 stereo channels.
One of the main benefits for me would be having direct outs on the mono channels. I currently record all my tracks in single live takes (I like the challenge!) down to a stereo pair but it would be nice to have multitrack versions to tweak later when working with other people (who don't like the challenge/are too drunk to pull off more than one decent take of their vocals! Ahem...)
DIY wise I'd like to reconfigure the insert points on the stereo channels to be direct outs (if this is necessary? presumably the inserts are unbalanced - don't know how easy it would be to balance them, or indeed whther there is any point? Should I just not worry and use some nice short custom leads straight to the soundcard?)
Is this desk going to sound significantly better than my mackie? Are there any mods I can do to it to significantly improve it?
Thanks guys!
M
