Hi Peeps, i just bought a small 36 ch Neve VRP, that i will use in my studio. I am about to start a series of mods to make it run cooler and sound better. talk about a challenge
I am working with Dale Manquen to get faders & FF back 100%, and Scott Anderson for re cap & repairs, Tom Schlum for general Neve repairs and Jim Williams for some signal flow mods and tweaks. I am a mod head myself so will get my hands dirty too when I can.
here is my mod list:
1 -Mic Pad from -30 to -15 or so
2 -change the dynamics character - its too slow
3- try to bypass the Eq better.
4-better grounding
5-chip swaps ( some areas)
6-Cap bypass where I can based on chips.
7-monitor section , bypass switch for the vCA
8- try to get away around the FETS
9- Bulbs to leds
10- bulbs to Leds for meters
11-replace VR mix cards with legend cards
12- my heat reduce mod for each channel
13 - DC power bucket switching ( like SSL)
Are there any must do Mods for a NEVE VRP that you guys can point out other than what I have listed here.
Thank You In advance
Cheers
