Bobby,

Most of the 525's I have seen have been converted to the "550" pinout to work in lunchboxes. This would explain why your inputs are on different pins than a stock 525. Other pins are changed as well. I think that the units are modified at the PCB level to make them mono only (you can no longer make them stereo/mono at the connector).

The VCR2N is available from Electronics Goldmine:

Another lunchbox 550 weirdness: some 550's have a 39K resistor added from a pin on the rear of the unit to one of the op amp inputs. This was to increase gain of the 550 in certain consoles or applications (it may have gone to a switch?). The pin that was used on the rear turns out to be the same pin that supplies +48 in a lunchbox. If you plug in one of these modified 550's it will not pass signal until the resistor is removed, but it does not appear to cause damage.

I don't know about the 2157. I would be willing to "take a look" at one.

Here is a custom 2503 I did. I used the Jameco girl, because the catalog was the only mag with a nag around here. Sheesh.

Jameco Girls Gone Wild!
(sorry for the OT)

If anyone wants to play with this, Electronic Goldmine is selling the VCR2N FETs 2 for a buck (or 100 for $40 if you really want to play around). Since they like low levels, they might be cool in a envelope filter type guitar stompbox.

Hey Rascalseven

Download it from here:

Enjoy.

Does anyone know where to get that LDR photoresistor for the AM2b
or an equivalent?

This really looks like an intresting DIY.

OK boys,
I sent an AP2623 transformer (found on a 525C) to Brian Sowter and he is now offering that model to the vile and hideous general public.

I'm half way through designing pcbs for this comp and am making two versions. One will be a large sized job and the other will be 500 series sized.

Let me know of any interest.
