I don't know if you've already mentioned this, but what model (in which price range) are you using? How long does this printout take? I am a total 3d printing newbie...but I am very interested.
I hav etwo printers, an Ender 3V2 and an Ender Max Neo.
Printing takes about 40 minutes, maybe less on the 3V2. The Neo Max takes an eternity to heat the large bed.

In my opinion, and many others, Bambu Labs A1 Mini is hands-down the best starter machine. Comes assembled and ready to go. Self-calibrating and wi-fi connected, it practically does everything for you. Can print super-fast if needed, and takes up hardly any space (can be picked up with one hand and put away on a shelf). Customer service is excellent, cost only $US200-250.

Great machine, after a few YT videos you really want one - GAS alarm 😅

OK, I'm a total dork when it comes to file conversion, and also it's been awhile. The file doesn't want to import to my printer app. Changing the suffix from .txt to .stl doesn't work.
[I'm a total dork when it comes to file conversion] -- What file-format extensions does your printer accept/import? Can you provide a list of them?

These surfaces actually have zero depth, so they won't print. At least that's what happens with my printer.
I have corrected these artifacts on the variant with brass inserts.

  • .asm
  • .igs
  • .sat
  • .stp
  • .x_t (preferred)
.....and, I will give it a shot to export an -- .stl -- file from my SolidWorks Premium program.

Just trying to help out here.....that's all.

The slicing software for my printer is called Bambu Studio, and I'm sure I've imported .stp files into it before (and it's supposed to accept many other types as well). It's just not recognizing this particular file. No big deal, I'll firgure it out when I've got more time. Thanks though!

I was so impressed I almost bought a second one, but fortunately the novelty wore off in time!
Unless you want to set up a 3D farm, there's no point in buying identical printers.
I bought the Neo Max when I found out the Ender3V2's bed was too small for some projects.
My next printer will probably be an IDEX or a multi-filament. That's what I'm missing.

Not exactly a printer farm, but I'd intended making lots of small mechanical parts, and a second printer would have sped things up handily.

I have been looking at a possible 3D printer for several years now but all the offerings were either too complex or too expensive - they just did not feel right. But looking at this new Bambu product I think they have pretty much nailed it. I am seriously tempted and it is only £299.

Cheers

Ian

Actually there are many decent offers in the 200-300 € bracket.
For some reason Bambu is not very popular here.
And it's not particularly cheap, compared e.g. with a Creality Ender3v3, which offers the same facilities with a larger bed for 199€.
I'm not endorsing Creality, similar offers from Anykubic or Elegoo exist.
Just make sure you choose a printer with automatic bed levelling.
