anyone got any experience with old (60´s) beyerdynamic M 260?
are there any replacement ribbons available?
what should i be aware of before doing anything?
thankful for any information.

I guess your ribbon is blown? Check out the Mic Meta, some very good ribbon info there, as well as suggestions for reribboning services. The only ribbon I have had redone is my RCA-BK5 which was done by Clarence Kane, who did a magnificient job. I have no idea if he works on the beyers though...

Yes; Beyer will re-ribbon your M260. It won't be cheap, and based on my experience a few years ago it won't be quick, but it'll sound great afterwards. As far as I know, they don't sell the ribbons over-the-counter.

An alternative: Stephen Sank re-ribbons Beyer microphones with RCA-type ribbon material. I haven't heard any of the results, but I've heard rave reviews from folks on rec.audio.pro whose ears I trust.

Peace,
Paul
