wait, the black plastic is the conductive sheaf? I thought you meant the transluscent plastic that is under the black part.

From that link that was provided: "conductive PVC (black carbon PVC)"
The "conductive" aspect is provided by loading the plastic with carbon particles, which is what makes it black.

That Mogami cable has has a conductive carbon sheaf on the centre conductor.
Make sure you strip it back so it doesn't touch the terminal of the jack or pcb, or it will load the signal slightly.

Looking at the pic of the four Xformers there is obviously a wiring problem : this unbalanced 2524 Mogami cable is not correctly wired, as the black carbon CONDUCTIVE enveloppe of the hot wire has not been removed !
This is very often the case, unfortunately.

As a Mogami dealer for several years, I can testify you that it happens very often, unfortunately.

People do not understand how the cable is built, and they also do not read the Mogami wiring information sheet for this cable.
And complain.
