Hey guys,

I have a tube cathode follower mic. B+ is 120V and 58V on cathode. There is no room inside for a nice, big film cap. The only one would fit is 100V. What do you think, is it OK?

Maybe.

It is unlikely that the cap will ever see 101V with a cathode follower.

What is the damage if it did fail? If small, I would just try it.

Or: reduce that B+ to 100V.

Thanks PRR,

The damage would be a blown AKG transformer from C12A  . To reduce B+ to 100V does not seem like an option, as then I had to completely redo all capsule polarization circuit, which is fed from B+. Also, it will somehow change the sound.
