Cheap Capsules and Transformers UK/Europe

HI All,

I m planning on prototyping several different types of mics and wanted to get some cheap capsules (k67) and transformers (4.5:1).
The ones on cathedral pipes ones were fine for some of my other prototypes but the transformer 4.5:1 is no longer on the sight only the capsules and wondered if there is anyone in the UK who sells them? or europe?

Ive prototyped most of the famous mics now it was fun & great to learning I think I have worked out what I want now gonna put all my pennies into a Neuman capsule from Sennheiser... I have found I can get most circuits to sound like each other it really is the capsule that makes the real difference great fun learning tho but can be expensive when you add things up.

Cool Spence Ebay have been known to have cheap trans too, what its the ratio tran for ....

HI Gary,

its just a ratio i think is somewhere in the middle to get the mic's working ok, Im doing several different C414 (EB and EB P48) versions and have the body all done in CAD just need to get the circuit layout correct on the pcbs, will need one of the AKG transformers 5:1/10:1 for the final version.

Ive found the cheap $5 4.5:1 transformers at cathedralpipes.com, and chungers shop does the best deal on the K67 for $32.
these are perfect, but i cant order form cathedralpipes as its in the USA and does do shipping to UK/europe!!!. bummer.

What is it about the RK47 you did not like? With that said, what "budget" K47 capsule or capsules sound best in you opinion?

HI,

I do like the microphone parts RK-7, RK-47, RK-87 and CK-12 sounds great in the mic's ive built (U87, U67, U47 FET, M269c, M49c, M49b, C12, U47) also got one of erics capsules which sounds alright in my U67.

Hi maybell313 it was me who doesnt like RK47 ..... Havent got real Neumann K47 to compare sadly but just dont like the sound of it tried it in all my mics just doesnt cut it for me nothing wrong I guess just doesnt sound as nice capsules I have to compare to, the one I have are Tim Cambell Violet design vin67 also have Oktava 319
