just a few multi-can pics, 60's Ampeg Gemini 2, named after the space program,  :eek:

Mallory that hummed when i put my hand near it,

still don't know why,

maybe an internal ground problem or the way it is rolled up,

ground lead is crimped on lug, no solder,

inner foil less dried out than outer,

I ended up replacing this thing with two individual caps when I re-did my guitar player's Gemini 1.  I replaced the multi section can cap and the 470 ohm cathode resistor ( it kept blowing due to a bad power tube) as well.  Now, the hum is gone and the amp sounds great.
 
Someone recommended this company for custom multi-caps. they do one offs.  http://www.hayseedhamfest.com
They're doing the 20/10/10 for the amp for around $15.  And they're doing it in a similar package to what i have now.  Im a little skeptical but this could be a great resource for this kind of thing.
