I'm new to this forum and HD-reording and I've just got an old TerraTec Phase88 FW Rack - it's running on an old Lenovo ThinkCentre 3.3Ghz with 4 Gb RAM.

To see the difference from just plugging in the Clapton Strat (UN-balanced) in one of the inputs, I want to make such a DI Box.

Is the one of Bo Hansen's "the state of the art": http://www.hansenaudio.se/techpage.htm his work horse from 1975 !

or can I get something newer - likewise tested and evaluated like his ?

or should I just "don't care" ?

It's a great first project for learning soldering and metalwork.

Search some youtube videos on both skills- you will save yourself time and injury.  The videos usually include tool suggestions, which are also here in the metas.

When posting here without any kind of introduction, or context to what your skills are, and then ask about such simple things as DI projects, we'll assume you're a newb...

A simple "thanks, but I do have experience in electronics and metalworking" would go over a lot better than the condescending you've chosen.

good luck!

"Gemini86", I'm sure "sudderboy" understands my ironi ... obviously you don't, but that's your problem, not mine  :)

Irony is a very complicated tool to use in multi-langual forums like this...

You'r so right - but I hope it's not forbidden ... gyraf ... Aarhus, gør nu ikke noget stort ud af ingenting.

Oh , off to a good start
but if you ask a question that you expect a certain answer for perhaps you don't need to ask ?
I don't think many would be happy with the sound of a gtr directly into a board but for the most part
passive p/u's work better with active D.I.'S and vice versa  [ although that never stopped people
for many years & hits ] and you're right google can work for you .
