Hey all,
I am considering making a two independent channel BN2a like set of preamps with 3 6j7 tubes (I don't need the mixing capabilities of the BN2A) because Ive found a set of BN2A output transformers. Ive got 2 questions:
1: The schematic for the BN2A shows that a single mic input goes through 4 6j7 tubes, Im guessing the first is part of the mixing circuit (like the OP7), the second tube stage looks similar to the first stage of the op6, but it looks to be loaded, shouldn't I use an unloaded input stage for ribbon mics?
2: Is it a horrible idea to repurpose an Op7 (Ill try to find one is disrepair) to build a 2 channel BN2A like set of preamps?
Thanks for your insights.
