hey guys/gals. I had some spare time at work today and put together an spreadsheet with some formulas on it. This is stuff I usually forget, but i'm getting better the more i practice with them. Just R1&R2, turns ratio, gain/loss in dB The math that you use to calculate this stuff isn't too terribly bad (it has to be easy, otherwise i could never figure out how to enter into excel! )so i still encourage so-called 'newbies' to read up on it. Anyway, if anybody would like to check it out PM me and I'll email it to you. You too can impress you're friends and co-workers with your lighting-fast, transformer math skills.

yeah. but i'm a real dummy when it comes to stuff like that. i've never had to do it before. i could email it to you if you would host it or whatever. or i could set up my own website or some crap but i don't have the time for it really. this was seriously one of those 'if i have an excel spreadsheet open on my computer my boss won't ask what i'm doing (or not doing)' type of things. I'm generally kinda behind when it comes to computers. if anybody has any advice or knows of some info, i wouldn't mind learning a little about it. it's just not one of my priorities.

speaking of how crappy my computer skills are...you may notice i don't have an avatar. i want one. i want the inside gatefold picture of all that yummy mexican food that's from the zz-top tres hombres album to be my avatar. that record makes me hungry. I've searched around and i can only find pics of the front cover. I think I may take a digital photo of my copy, edit it, and try to make an avatar. i'll post this in the brewery also so if peeps have any tips maybe they can help me.

I´m playing with transformers and I did a xls with the formules of the radiodesigners handbook ch5 (just the low level transformers part)

maybe someone want to improve it with more formules.(losses , gap, etc.)

funkydiplomat this is the CJ xls? it seem to be for inductances,

I almost started crying when I downloaded this.
Was gonna keep it secret so I could fake being a transformer genius, but thats not right. Plus, the rivers are high and you never know.
Only does M6 square stack at this juncture, but that will hopefully change.
You can input your own lam data.
As always, magentics is an inexact science, so even this program is just an estimation.
To me, anyway, this is an absolute gem to have on your drive.:

look great!

even interleaving  that is a lot of math or a lot of aproximations.

you should use . instead of , for decimals or you will have a lots of ????

The slide bars are killer. You can work them to see all the relationships, like inductance vs turns, flux vs turns, etc.

And the fill window is cool, it turns red if your wire size and turns are too big.

And then theirs the volt turns......and the gap window, way cool.

Note the SE window.

I have come across some killer transformer books lately.

This one is fantastic:

But this one is just plain unbelievable:

Notice the call number?
I got some fuzzy jpgs of the good stuff.

This is one of the many shelves packed with audio circuits:

Nobody goes to the library these days so I have a window seat where I can look at the hills and read until I get bounced.
