Hello Jim,

Quick question, I may be late replying - but I'd love to order a board or two for the 1084 ez.  Are they still available and how much will they be?

Also, how difficult will they be compared to the Hairball 1176Rev a or Drip opto 4, I have experience with?

Thank you so much, most respectfully!!!  :)

Greg

Hi Greg,

I sent you an email with info. As to how easy it is compared to those projects I cannot say personally as I have not built those particular ones. Hopefully someone that has can chime in.

I did design this project to be successfully built by a beginner. If you have any other questions let me know.

Cheers

Jim

For those wanting to see a finished EZ1084EQ, Dany just sent me a link to a post he made on his project. His look better then mine! I'm jealous!

Hey folks,
I am close to completing my first of two. I am working with Bluzzi on the gain resistor values for the 12 position switch. This is my last task of the build. Has anyone tested values yet?

Hi all,

What are you using to house the Psu.  Right now I'm looking at a 2u chassis, seems a little excessive. Is anyone using a housing with a smaller footprint?

All suggestions are welcome.

Best,
Chris

I'm thinking about building 4 of these, and being a little bit of a noob, here's my question....
How tough would it be to build a single power supply for all 4 units?  Obviously I'd have to learn a few things about PSUs.
Workable? Bad idea?

Steve

Chris,

Yes I think a 1RU would be sufficient. Its the XFR that needs to fit in there so you need to locate one that does. Maybe some may want to give us their ideas on this?

I built mine in a small cheap box. I'm tied up until next week but I'll try and locate something nice and suggest it here.

Cheers

Hi Steve,

Its not tough at all. You need to have enough juice in there. 800ma to 1A should be sufficient. You may have to add some diodes in there between the feeds but I'm not sure.
I'll try and ask some of the ones that bought 4 or 8 boards what they are doing for power. Remind me if I don't get back here with that info.

Cheers

Has anyone prepared an instruction set to bias the transistor yet? I think Bluzzi was going to add one to the build guide but I haven't seen it yet. I am also still looking for the gain resistor values for a 12 position switch.
Happy EQ'ing

Hi all,

im almost done with the psu hookup but im stuck on one issue. using the fivefish 2448, is the ground pad used for the 0V hookup?
i got the +V at +24V as per the mini pot. just not sure about this 0V connection.

thanks,

Hi Chris,

I just responded to your private email but I'll respond here for benefit of anyone else needing this info.

The EZ1084EQ only requires +24vdc. You only need to hookup the +24vdc from the power supply to the EQ's +24v terminal. The 0 (zero) from power supply is hooked up to the EQ's 0 (zero) terminal. Its that simple.

You do not need the -24vdc supply.

That would result is "x" amount of the same value. IOW the same value for each step! That would not work in this circuit.

I gave Bruce the values for an 11 step switch. Bruce is looking to add the 12th position. The total resistance of the gain switch is aprox. 1K48

@bruceseidel7

take the total resistance (10k or 50k) and divide by the # of steps

my mistake, I was thinking he wants to put switches in place of the linear pots...that is what I am considering.

Is anybody adding on the EZ1290LE? I have not gotten a response from Martin yet; is he providing the board?

Thank you Jim!

The five fish board has (GR) printed on the pcb not (0) like I've seen before.
Thank you so much for the clarification.  I did the right thing.

Cheers,
Chris

Switches in lieu of the pots would be very cool indeed! 24 positions there would be nice (but expensive).

I'm guilty of sleeping on the 1290 option. I have the board from Martin actually filled. Its just lately I'm finally getting back to doing MY music and really getting into it (to the expense of other time). I'll try and get it done soon. Martin can't release the boards until I give the go ahead so throw the tomatoes my way.  :-\

Cheers

Jim
