Hello there,

I'm recapping an old Fonia-51 preamp and there is an electrolytic cap of 2200uf on output.
Anyone can share some wisdom how this one can be improved?

Cheers

Fonia selected parts to her stuffs, so if works good, i will not changed this...

Ps....i have few Fonia preamplifiers too...

Thanks! I will leave it as it is then. Worth just replacing it with a newer one? I just replaced the smaller ones..

I have about 10 pcs, and every pre have oryginal parts, i nothing replacing, works well...employes from Fonia factory says, "...if works good, do not replacing".

Gotcha. I guess no harm done changing those little ones.. Just a little bit tone change.. More full sound.
Maybe got one spare to sell?

Cheers

I'd say it would be worth measuring for DC on the transformer side of that cap. Any DC would indicate a leaky cap, and the transformer is likely not gapped... Or even measure the cap outside the circuit.
Cheers, V
