I made this stuff for my studio and decided I would like to move on from it and invest in more lab equipment like a nice RLC meter, a Hickok tube tester, or maybe a CNC machine.
Asking $1200 $1,100 $1,000 for the built unit or trades for anything I think is cool and of equal value.
Asking $10 per unpopulated audio card( 6 available 4 available ) Sold
Can make more PCB's if NYD approves
- MILA Stands for Mic Instrument Line Amplifier
- Audio cards designed by me
- This is a transformer balanced 2 channel mic preamp with a range switch that changes the gain in approximately 6dBu steps.
- Input transformers are Sowter 9610f
- Output transformers are Edcor WSM series
- Power Transformer is XPWR 050-120 ( 120VAC input )
- DI on both channels bypasses mic signal
- The power supply used is not the one from the MILA-1 schematic, it's my own traditional style RCRCRC design with 100uF 450VDC Nichicon capacitors
- Pad resistors are for a 20dBu input pad
- Phase switch was added at the input
- 783 style phantom power was added
- AC heater wiring is done off of the PCB with artificial center tap added
- Tubes are all NOS RCA silvertop 12AV7
- Non polarized caps used on audio cards are either WIMA, NOS Mallory, or Cornell Dubilier
- Polarized caps on audio cards are Nichicon
- Resistors are all low tolerance metal film types
- Frequency response is flat from 20 Hz to 20 kHz
- Fuse after IEC Inlet
- 3u Parmetal Case
- Neutric XLR jacks
- 0.4% THD + N on each channel when driving a -37dBu signal up to +4dBu
- Mostly shielded wiring for audio signals
Noise levels are pushed into checkmate.
Works great, sounds huge, and priced to move.
