I'm building an API 312-like preamp. I have 24V going into the op amp, a Forssell JFET992. The API schematic lists a 2161 diode to keep reverse polarity from getting to the op amp, another schematic lists a 1N40007 diode(?). Here's the API schematic:

I have a bag of 1N4003 diodes, would they work in this application? A google search suggests that they should be able to handle it, but maybe I'm not reading this right.
