I am sourcing parts for:
N_1081 _1272
AP_312
GRN_PRE

When the bom calls for LM317HVT, or AT do the letters at the end make that huge a difference?
The HVT is no longer produced anyway. (at Mouser)

There are other examples too, but in general do the ending letters matter that much?

Also,
In the 312, what is the function of the REG_SW 7805

Thanks
Caine

Depends on the part... You should always, always, always check the datasheet.

yes, what Al said. Especially because some manufacturers of the 'same' parts change the pinouts. Also different brands might have different specs. So try to look at the datasheet from the specific manufacturer for the part you have.

LM7805 is a 5v regulator. On the Canil PS it's used to supply 5v to the relays and LEDs on the pre boards. Max input V and max current are important specs for this one.

If you check the datasheets for ICs, transistors, etc, they'll have suggested applications and circuits which show how the part works best. You can often find similar circuits built into the schematic of whatever you're working on. This makes it easier to understand the schemo (did for me, anyway).

Hope it helps, sorry if you knew. Paul
