There's a circuit board, not just a potted TL072, could be anything these days... might even sound good

This would explain the low price. I once bought a fully discrete DIP8 op amp from Aliexpress. It didn't work.
Makes sense wrt the power requirements.The product page lists OPA2604AP as the opamp...
