A great deal of work has been carried out in Europe and the UK to enable compliance with the CE regulations.
Sometimes there is an apparent conflict between RF immunity - and the need to avoid the formation of hum, or ground loops. Often even electrical safety is compromised.......
Or is there a conflict?
The following 2 articles written by Tony Waldron from the Cadac mixer company (as used in many Theatre Musical productions) - will be of great interest:

That's thorough info !

Those Rane-pdfs are also informative, like #110:
I mean do you follow certain rules like all mic level stuff is XLR, (obviously), and all line level stuff is 1/4 inch phone jacks? If so, how do you keep from grounding your 1/4 inch jacks?
XL to XL always
Mic and line

BUT  when I must ....
for 6.5 mm stuff I ALWAYS use the stereo version and then make my mind up on wiring to suit the occassion
product_2260.jpg
this one pictured is unusual as it is tip and ring only
also come with a plastic nut and available as switched with PCB mount. That's what I usually get and one unit can be used in ALL situations.

and for RCA's
A panel of multiple RCA's

available as 2-way, 4-way, 6-way and 8-way panels

EVEN better are the units built into the usual XL chassis type mounting.
BUT I'm too tight to spend that much.

Thank-you for those links John :guinness: I'm still kicking myself for missing Tony Waldron's EMC lecture at the AES a few months ago, I have no excuses really... EMC is maybe not the most entertaining topic to spend an evening studying, but rather crucial in today's market.

Welcome to the Lab John! :guinness:
