@Gustav I actually had a question about the 120k with the * asterisk as well. What's that for?

Historically, some people changed or trimmed it to adjust ratios, so its marked.

How do we go about calculating the proper value for our meter for that? ( I ordered a 1mA FSD meter from ebay and I'm waiting for it )

Thank you :)

You dont need to calculate anything here, just nudge it in the right direction and trim it. You can also just change it to a 470R resistor in series with a 2K trimmer instead.

Vu meter solved!
I tried 330r-1k instead of the 2k2 according to BOM.
The 680r was the sweet spot at least for my vu meter.
Oh happy days Lalala :D

I designed a 1RU Version based on the G Bus from DIYRE. I just ordered the parts so I don't know if it will fit, especially with the transformer. But I will do my best to make it fit. :) It seems like I can't upload fpd files directly, so here's the pdf and the fpd file in a zip folder.

After about 2 hours of hardcore testing on mixbus groups yeah everywhere I am really impressed by this beauty.
I’ve only have 1 other hw compressor a modded 3630 (I’m a house freak) and then all the most expensive soft compressors. But this thing just sounds so darn good! Just opens up the track like nothing else. So big and wide stereo image, and the low end ❤️ I wish I had started whit hw earlier and not spend so much money on plugins… Thanks @Gustav for sharing this project for the masses. 🍻 skål

Congrats , post some samples if you got time ! skål !

@Gustav If I incorporate transformers in this build , what changes would I need to do ? I remember reading something about removing the 100r resistors in the output stage

I have some carnhill vtb 2281 ( 600:600 ungapped) from a project I haven't finished and I wanted to see if I could use those.

Ideally have it on a switch so I can switch between transformers or not

I appreciate any help :)

That looks great Andado! Your panel looks painted, not anodized? Who made the panel?

Edit: upon 2nd look I see that it has to be painted after milling because the rack holes aren't bare aluminum inside like with Front Panel Express panels.

I think it’s anodized. Here’s a better pic. Modushop in Italy did it.

Oh yes, I see right away in this new pic that it is brushed aluminum. It really looks painted in the first pic, which is a look that I love but FP express only offers powder coated to achieve that look, which is $$$. The interesting thing is Front Panel Express anodizes the panels before they cut them out, which is a drag because the edges are bright aluminum, whereas yours has anodized edges, which looks much better to me.

I agree that I don't love the shiny aluminum edges most of the time, although I've had it come out actually looking cooler in at least one case I can think of. I think that happens because the person/company doing the metalwork buys large sheets of anodized aluminum and cuts your panel from that, as opposed to doing the anodization in house, which I'm sure would be more resource-intensive.
