Hairball 1176 revD strange release behvior

I have a Hairball Rev D 1176 that I built years ago. The attack and release behavior has always seemed off to me. The attack knob doesn't seem to do a whole lot, which I realize is not super strange considering the range of attack times are all on the faster side of things. The release definitely seems weird to me. When set to the slowest release - once the compressor begins to release the meter falls extremely quickly down to about -2 and then slows way down for the rest of the release. Ill post a video of a test I set up. Anyone seen this or have any ideas where to start?

As you did a diy, confirm all the parts are in the right places with correct values.
Then from there confirm all the solder joints are good

Ill start going through it. Does this release look strange to anyone else? Id like to make sure Im not just being neurotic.
