Has anyone here bought a capsule from Braingasm Labs?

Braingasm Labs - bloody infantile name for a company. More and more people in this world stuck around age 12.
Braingasm is is a term related to the ASMR world, because I started designing binaural devices in 2010.
It relates to psychoacoustics, describing a peculiar fact, when you have goosebumps listening to a beautiful sound.
Ok the other hand, diffuse infantilism and arrogance are the reason why I stay away from the audio forums.

perhaps not the right thread but how much money you looking to spend? the 3u m7 has the most accurate m7 plate on the market right now, by a margin, but i've heard from multiple people it's held back by skinning technique issues. skinning m7s consistently is kind of hard. if you're willing to spend extra money, having the 3u reskinned by drefahl results in probably the best m7 available right now. the other boutique m7s are dotted around variously. the flat k47 sounds a lot like a berlin m7 on axis, but the pickup is different because of the various anatomical differences. it does sound pretty good in a u47 basket though. it all depends on your budget, really.

Hi Soliloqueen not worried about the budget just looking for the best capsule options for the Stam u47.... Not sure of the version of the Stam is coming so May not have the Braingasm / 3u capsule in.... it does advertise this capsule but I have my doubts this will have to be confirmed when it arrives.( I believe he used the D7 before the Braingasm) not sure. I just want to get the best out of the Mic be it with a 47 or M7 Capsule (to my taste). I will be doing shootouts with the Blue line, flat 47 and the one which is already in the Stam.... may have to get your other 47 Capsule to compare. Your Flat 47 does sound really good in a modded U47 style my brother has. The mic will predominately if not exclusively be used for Vocals as I have many others in the locker to do the rest. Thanks for your reply

It’s best to test these things yourself, it is far more valuable to have the first hand experience.

The Thiersch is exceedingly close to the Neumann. It’s a very stable product with less issues in the field than even the Gefell PVC has had. Thiersch is one of the only companies on the planet if not THE only company that isn’t making Neumann type capsules from reverse engineering and guesstimates.

It is maybe worth noting that Gefell and Berlin M7 have always had slightly different backplate construction and that Thiersch is based on the Gefell.

Don’t discount the redline though either, it compares extremely well to a good k47/49, almost shockingly so. It is probably the best LDC capsule that is readily available for DIY and repair work, in sound, consistency, and build quality.

Thanks George

I really like the Blue and Put it in my Blackspade after advice and the fact BSA now predominately use blue line (but do offer others) but every time I listen to a shootout like the panphonic that red line some how seems more 3D (only thing I can say to describe it) than the blue line and maybe the fact of the Bigger head basket of the 47 it may well be the way to go and the Blue is maybe better in the Blackspade um17 smaller head basket ??..... looks like I am now buying the red line and maybe a 3U and getting it re-skinned by drefahl and buying Arienne's K47 then shooting out Blue, Red, 3U re-skinned, both Arienne 47's and the D7 if it is the one that comes in the Stam ....... it's going to be fun and I guess the results will be just what I like to my ears plus some mic builder may get a few capsules a bit cheaper on ebay as a result!!! ;) I must be mad but hey it will be interesting have a great Christmas all

Hello,

Just bought one month ago, 2 pcs of red line M7 capsules from Rico Vetterlein, the son in law of Siegfried Thiersch (Mikrofon Union).
Very good quality capsules. I used one to replace the stock k67 type from an Telefunken AK47 mk2.
The other one I will probably use if I manage to make a lollipop head for my CMV563.
Happy Winter Holidays!

Cristian from Romania,
Welcome to groupdiy!
We are waiting for you to post audio tests with Tf AK47mkii equipped with RedLine M7.
Merry Christmas!
Crăciun Fericit!

Regarding the capsules made by Braingasm Lab from Rome, I'va had a reply on Facebook page via messenger on the 23rd of November 2024.
I've asked him if is possible to acquire some capsules and the estimated price.
Below the price at the time we have discussed:
K67 and k47 capsules = 180 Euro.
M7 capsule = 220 Euro.
These prices might be changed since then...
For sure I will buy at least one of each in the future. I am still interested.
Teo is quite bussy guy, his replies might be not so quick...
Hope the above info helps. Cheers!

i had someone shoot me a picture. it actually looks like cathedral pipes, rather than braingasm? or maybe charles sells bg plates. it's pretty good
The Mk1 I have found out should be the Heiserman hk47 or Danny Bouchards D7 believe the Mk2 and Mk3 should have Braingasm in, only difference between the mk2 and 3 is the mk3 has option to have a 47 or M7 Capsule... Cathedral pipes I believe took over from Dale Ulan M7 but could be wrong thanks Guess we will see once it arrives Soliloqueen. If you don't mind could you forward me the pic ? 99% had Dannys D7 some had Thiersch or Heiserman.

Blue line does not sound like any Neumann Berlin or Gefell M7 I've heard both before and after reskin. I find it dark, boomy and 2D. Red line is better and more 3D but a bit modern in the high end which is not necessarily a bad thing. I would pick AA K47 flat before both of them. Sounds closer to the M7 sound I prefer.

Thanks Thomas.borgstrom for chipping in your thoughts .... I already have the AAk47 Flat so looking forward to trying that one when the Mic comes.... against the Blue I already have and the one in the mic when it arrives ..plus the AA k47 I have also ordered ... waiting for a response on the red line ordering after a sent email yesterday so we will see on that one .... undecided about ordering a 3U and getting it re-skinned as it does seem a bit extreme that I won't be happy with one of the previous mentioned. Especially when then matching one of these capsules with either one of my 4 different preamps, 7 different Eq's (or combination of) and 5 different types of compressors and a combination of transformers non-transformers / Saturation etc .... sometimes you can be going down a rabbit hole far too deeply, when better time would be spent just recording music in the knowledge your tools are good enough.... Some of the above gear and capsules are made by some of the best companies in the market today and in the AA k47 capsules, these are a real fined. I mean at the price the AA capsules are for the quality being turned out with the level of detail and tight tolerances spoken in other Threads is just amazing.... also the proof is in the pudding once you try them.... I will buying all future AA products to try out going forward. Lets face it we all know from sites like this some companies out there have 2k mic's with very average capsules in because they want to sell their 6k mic's with a better quality one's in. You only have to have a questionable mind to find the truth. I love to get involved and buy from companies on the way up building quality products before shareholders etc get involved and profit is the main focus (which IMO is when standards drop). anyway I have been banging on enough for 8 am on a Saturday in holiday season all the best to all on here and thanks to all you knowledgeable souls for helping me out to find a combination I will love using as a tool going forward.

don't forget OPR. his dedication to constant improvement is amazing. every single experience my clients have had with him and story i've seen about him has been immensely respectful, open to suggestion and collaborative. he is the person i always regret taking business from the most, by far. mark is the chillest dude around. there's no better place to go if your interest is in actually supporting the art. i heard his k47 for the first time a few years ago and wasn't a fan, but then i heard one a few months ago and it was great. he's been refining with help from friends in the industry this whole time. his current production k47 is actually slightly better than my last batch (and even that's when my plates are on target, which was an issue before we went in-house on those), and i'm sure his m7 is great
