I have built a pair from a old set of Peltor Optime II hearing protectors. The hardest thing was to find a suitable donner for the speakers.
If I where to do it again I would look for the best and quietest hearing protectors I could find. One secret is to find one that fits and fits tight!
Most hearing protectors have replaceable foam head pieces ... this is one of the things to look for also.
