You mean it matches the pin out shown in post #11 that you said you used? How did you actually have it connected?This is why it is good to provide pictures of a build.

Ya, that was my fault. I thought I had tried it... atleast when I did I couldnt get any output and I was just getting around 2.4v at the drain and source with no output. My guess was that I either wired it wrong or I swapped the 6.8k resistor for a 2.2k resistor trying to get the JFET to bias, misplaced the original 6.8k resistor and had to wait to order another one.
This is why it is good to provide pictures of a build.
I tried the gate at the middle which definitely wasn't it and I thought I had tested the gate at the right pin.... thats my mistake i elaborate on the post above
