Thanks for the links, but actually, I was more looking into adding a filter to the fuzz face circuit mentioned in my first post...to learn about filtering and to be able to use any PSU.
I might use your idea for my breadboard though ;)

I am FAR from an expert on this topic, but I recall reading a few articles that the sound of Ye Olde fuzz units was influenced by the then-available batteries. For general uses, the only choices were the old carbon-zinc products by Eveready, etc. Allegedly, those batteries had a higher internal resistance/impedance compared to the current alkalines and fancier batteries.

Yeah the old radio shack 9 volt batteries for 29 cents a piece,

Duane Allman talked about the dead batteries sounding the best but the funny thing is I never heard him use a fuzz box. Maybe it was with the Allman Joys or The Hourglass.

I guess you could simulate the dead battery with a voltage dropping device that would also change the impedance if the power supply. I forget what there called,

Putting a ferrite core around the power cable coming from the One Spot might help. A simple RC filter on the power input can help. Try a 100 ohm resistor and 220uF capacitor with a 100nF cap in parallel with the 220uF.

That worked a treat!! (2x 220uF and a 100R resistor in series)
Thanks to everybody for your help, ideas and suggestions!

Cheers
