I'm wondering if someone can help me.

I want to use the scale from the attached pic for the phase meter on my MCI. I have been trying to remove the black background so that I am left with the red/yellow/green scale with white edging, & the white writing above & below the scale. I then need the white writing & white edge on the red/yellow/green bit changed to black. I wasn't able to successfully do this myself & I tried to make a new scale like this in coreldraw, but my licence has expired & since I was using the 2017 version I figured if I'm only using it once every 8 years it may not be worth paying out for a new one.

I sanded off the scale on an MCI plate with some 1200 grit & I want to make a water slide decal out of this scale so the meter looks like it was always there instead of a black meter where all the others are a cream/beige colour.

Anyone able to help please ?

If you can get a clear, proportionate scan of the scale into Illustrator (perhaps the photo you attached would work, my eyes can't quite tell if it's straight on or at a slight angle), you could probably use Image Trace and vectorize it, from which point all the edits you mentioned would be dead simple. That's the first solution that comes to my mind, but of course it requires access to Illustrator.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I don't have illustrator. I'm not really sure what you mean by vectorize it. I'm a bit slow when it comes to graphic programs ....

Rob, I'd also be willing to take a whack at it for you. I've done this before for other purposes and it's not too difficult, although I don't want to over-promise just in case I have bad luck (I'm proficient with the software, but not a professional). Is there any chance you could pop the scale out and scan it? That would probably yield best results, but doing it with the photo should be possible too.

If your willing to try I would be very grateful. The problem is that the scale that I posted is from Canford's Website & I do not actually have a meter with this scale. I could scan the scale that the Canford scan is supposed to fit to if that's any use ?

Happy to take a crack at it. That other scan might be useful as a reference if you can provide it!

Hey ! I'm not a professional designer by any means but I had some free time and gave it a go!
I've attached the editable pdf , so maybe someone can fine tune it properly if it's close to what you are looking for !
