Hi, i wanted to join this community after being a lurker for a little while, because i'm looking for ways to make my limited budget stretch further and also learn a bit more about what goes into a design for instance of a microphone.
it came about really after a lengthy and exhausting search for a pair of mics like the Neumann KM84, i kept hearing this sounds like one, this sound like one...that was the sound i was after but without the funds and understanding of what and why a design could create that sound...i felt i was just getting myself into a neverending loop.
i hope i can educate myself..thanks for allowing me to be part of the forum.

I completely get your KM84-related pain, felt that for many years also.

Fwiw, in my current understanding, the thing i love in the /84 is the off-axis response by the ridges in the backplate, but still not sure. Trying to get Tim to make a 1" version of this, that should clear it up..
